در حال حاضر توسعه‌دهندگان پلوم با کمبود زمان مواجه هستند و این پروژه به طور فعال نگه‌داری نمی‌شود. پیاده‌سازی ویژگی‌های جدید ممکن است زمان‌بر باشد. در این فاصله شما می‌توانید استفاده از نرم‌افزارهای دیگری با همین کارکرد مانند WriteFreely یا وردپرس با افزونه ActivityPub و... را مد نظر قرار دهید.
یک‌بار بنویسید، همه‌جا منتشر کنید
پلوم صرفاً یک وبگاه نیست؛ بلکه شبکه‌ای از وبگاه‌های تماماً متصل و در عین حال مستقل از هم است که نمونه خوانده می‌شوند. شما در نمونهٔ خودتان محتوا تولید می‌کنید اما سایرین در نمونه‌های دیگر پلوم نیز می‌توانند از داستانی که روایت کرده‌اید لذت ببرند.
وبلاگ‌نویسی اجتماعی
وقتی که چیزی می‌نویسیم در بیشتر موارد، هم‌رسانی چیزی با دیگران است. پلوم ویژگی‌های بسیاری دارد که اجازه می‌دهد این تبادل میان نویسندگان و خوانندگان، یک ارتباط دو سویه باشد.
نوشتن مشارکتی
پلوم همچنین مشارکت در یک مقاله را تسهیل می‌کند. از آن جایی که بلاگ‌ها محدود به یک نویسنده نیستند، افراد زیادی می‌توانند روی یک بلاگ مطلب نوشته و یا کار یکدیگر را بهبود بخشند تا در نهایت بهترین نتیجه حاصل شود.

نه فقط پلوم
Plume instances form one part of a huge network, collectively called the Fediverse. It is made up of many instances - servers with different orientations, purposes and policies, each one running a specific application. It does not always have to be Plume.
This means that, for instance, Plume is able to communicate with microblogging apps like Mastodon, or Pleroma. Even other blogging apps which support federation, such as WriteFreely can also communicate with Plume! It means that you can comment on, share and like Plume articles from any of these other platforms too.

Each instance is hosted and moderated by different peoples across varied locations of the world, resulting in diverse rules, thematics and ambiance that it focuses on. Thus one given instance can suit you better than another, depending on your opinions and interests.
And if no existing instance makes you feel at home, you can very well set up your own, if you are a bit adventurous.

Because the Fediverse is mostly backed by volunteers, and not investors, it is resilient to economic problems. And because of its decentralized nature it is also harder to censor than traditional platforms.
And even if one instance happens to go down, the rest of the network will continue to work uninterrupted.
